Robert Hofschröer is employed by York Social Services. He runs York & District Deaf Society from York Council funded-premises and offers specialist advice to vulnerable, deaf people, particularly the elderly.

He has defrauded his own mother, Barbara Hofschröer of her house, unlawfully evicted her and attempted to fraudulently sell it. Grandma B, as Barbara has become known, is an 84 year-old, wheelchair-bound great-grandmother.

She was unlawfully evicted from her house in a joint police / social services operation in February 2010. She has been stranded abroad ever since and is desperate to go home. However, Robert has threatened to kill her if she does.

The case of the Abuse of Grandma B, as it has become know, has been raised in Parliament on a number of occasions by Lord Maginnis of Drumglass, including:

“The Hofschroer case has been on my desk for several years now. A widow in her 80s was dispossessed of her home in a way that implies collusion between certain family members and the Social Services. A son who has come to the rescue has been harried by the North Yorkshire police (that particularly dubious constabulary merits careful investigation) to the extent that he and his aged mother have been pursued through an Interpol warrant to their “refuge” in Austria.

“Does anyone in authority care that social services and police in North Yorkshire have conspired in the persecution of Mrs Hofschroer and her son? Are details of dismissals, forced retirements and other shady and costly measures pertaining to North Yorkshire Police available to legislators in Parliament? “

York Council has not denied these serious allegations.

Despite the fact that Robert Hofschröer has been systematically abusing his own mother for years now, York Council continues to fund his operation and pass vulnerable people on to him, knowing he has a history of physical, emotional and financial abuse of his own mother.

The injunction has been served on Robert Hofschröer and he is not contesting it (see:

Why is York Council allowing a known abuser access to vulnerable people?
